1. Motivated by Nature
Using autumnal colours will certainly encourage you to use your decking area even when the temperature drops. It also provides an extension of your natural surroundings, especially if your home and outdoor space are enclosed by woodland and parkland. Watching the seasonal change of summer to autumn from your very own viewing deck sounds like the best therapy in the world.
We think that this entertainment space sums up the style perfectly. A stunning garden surrounded by mountains and woodland, the homeowners have kept their decking design in keeping with the trees by using composite decking and composite balustrades in various tones of reddish browns.
The Havanna and Spiced oak Forma composite decking have been used to complete this project for a client based in Norway. In fact, combining the two to create added depth and texture has helped create a perfect autumnal finish.
Or, if you prefer the idea of a different finish, our CLARITY® composite decking boards in Walnut and Autumn might be more to your liking.
Complete the design with our composite balustrades in complementing colours, although, with a view like this one, we may have opted for the glass balustrades systems instead. Nothing would want us to interrupt that scenery.
2. Yin & Yang Philosophy
Asian culture is inspired by opposites – the yin and yang. That is dark and light, textured and smooth and the fusion of traditional and modern. Nature inspires the culture too – just think of the Blossom Tree Festivals throughout Japan in April.
Chinese and Japanese gardens are designed with the yin and yang in mind. The idea is to keep it simple and carefully plan your design before making a transformation. You add texture with the use of a wide range of materials from stones, to gravel, and timber to concrete, and the smoothness of wood decking.
There are always a couple of standard items found in modern Asian garden designs and those are the use of redder woods, such as the Western Red Cedar from the North American or tropical wood from Malaysia for deckings and pergolas. Our composite decking range provides a perfect alternative, one that requires little maintenance and weill last much longer. View our composite decking.
These bring an immediate sense of warmth and comfort, just like the leaves of an Acer 'Osakazuki', which is said to have the most intense, long-lasting scarlet autumn colour of all the Japanese Maples, according to Ornamental Trees. The second is then naturally, the addition of one or two Japanese maple trees and willows along with aesthetic evergreens.
Tropical woods are not the most sustainable materials to buy and are often frowned upon due to poor re-planting procedures. So to achieve a more sustainable alternative when designing an autumn inspired Japanese garden, it is worth considering a composite decking.
Our products at Ecoscape UK are made up of recycled high-density polyethlyene plastic and reclaimed FSC® Certified wood fibres and every single board or panel contains 95% ethically sourced recycled materials.
To achieve a garden similar to the Japanese inspired one above, we have decking panels, cladding and fences that all have that beautiful reddish, autumnal tones. Oh, and the colour will last as our products have at least 25 years guarantee. That will certainly get the neighbours talking.
3. Bonfire Night, every night
The English institution of Bonfire Night will never reduce in popularity. It seems crazy that on 5th November, we all head out to fields wrapped up warm to stand by a giant fire and watch the fireworks, but for many of us, it brings back very happy childhood memories.
Plus a roaring fire makes us feel so, so cosy at this time of year. The best bit is that we no longer have to keep a fireplace for indoor entertainment. We love the design below for that reason, as they’ve made the fire pit the main focal point of their autumnal decking layout.
You could easily achieve a very similar statement using Ecoscape products as the foundation of your design. FORMA Composite Decking panels in Spiced Oak would work beautifully for the flooring.
For a very similar screen, we also stock the Chestnut Clarity Multipurpose Composite Trellis. Or, install a solid wall and overlay our FORMA® composite cladding boards in the same Spiced Oak.
The best bit is that our composite products are extremely low in maintenance, which is the best news for outdoor landscapes transitioning into autumn.
A quick sweep away of leaves and a hose down will keep your decking looking as a good as new. The UV and Stain Protection also provide an added benefit of the FORMA range. Plus any decking panels or cladding boards will withstand the weathering of autumn. There is little fear of warping or splintering.
These benefits remove the need to repaint, stain or seal the following spring. It’s as easy as putting your feet up by the fire with a hot chocolate.
