Halloween is truly a magical time of year, with seasonal decorations hanging from every window, spooky costumes coming out of storage and packs of candy being bought by the dozen, it’s hard to deny that there’s tons of fun to be had at this time of year. Whether you’re looking to entertain the local ‘trick or treaters’ or host a ‘spook-tacular’ Halloween party of your own, decorating your home and garden is a huge part of getting into the Halloween spirit (no pun intended!). While we could certainly talk all day about the hundreds of great ways to decorate the interior of your home for Halloween, gardens are the specialist area of Ecoscape UK! That’s why we’ve put together this simple list of tips and ideas to help you create the perfect spooky garden this Halloween!
Garden Decoration for Halloween
How you decorate your garden for Halloween determines the spooky effect on anyone approaching your door, be it local children looking for a handful of treats or friends and family arriving to your awesome Halloween party. Therefore, the garden by your main entrance should be a priority when it comes to decoration and surprise scares for all who approach your home. Simple decorative items such as fake stretchy spider webs are great for adding a spooky effect to bushes and front windows, bats can be hung from branches and a few menacing Halloween pumpkins, possibly forming a flickering pathway to your front door can help keep an eye on those brave enough to enter! Fake tombstones create a fantastically frightful effect when combined with some skeletal remains emerging from the earth below (a decoration used to great effect in gardens all across the USA!)
Space to Party
If you are lucky enough to have a garden with a good amount of space, a bigger budget or just want to get one over on your neighbour we have a few additional ideas that will establish your home as the place to be. A garage, canopy or gazebo can be used to create a spooky Halloween den or trick or treat cave. A few tables with black sheets will help create a mini bar or a place for kids to play Halloween games such as bobbing for apples, searching for human remains (hidden around the garden) or a scary Halloween walk complete with actors ready to jump out and make people scream!
Throughout the evening you can expect trick or treaters banging on your door, hands out hoping for some treats. This is where you can have a little fun which is why we have listed our 3 favorite Halloween pranks played on unsuspecting victims;
